“What if he gets out early?’ 

“Even then. You have documented evidence of a covert operation that included reproductive control. No judge – military or civilian – will grant him

“But he won’t stop. 

A long pause. “Men like Ryan Hale don’t stop. They just change their approach vector.” 

I thanked her and hung up. 

That night, I held Vera and made a decision. 

I would not spend my life running. I would not raise my daughter in the shadow of her father’s failures. 

If Ryan wanted a legal fight, I would meet him. But this time, I had what he didn’t.

I filed a formal response through Chen.

He was free. 

And the first thing he did – before calling his mother, before contacting his attorney, before issuing a single statement – was drive to Walter Reed. 

Security flagged him at the perimeter. 

“Dr. Sinclair, a vehicle registered to Ryan Hale has been identified approaching the main gate. ETA: twenty minutes.
