Chapter 6

Until Jake’s mom’s incident. And Riley came back from Europe. He asked me to leave with him. He was sincere.

But I couldn’t leave Jake. So I said no.

Riley hated me for it. And went back to Europe again. Two years pass.

And I slowly stopped loving Jake. I wanted out. Riley came back without hesitation.

But I was on my way to give Jake’s mom her final respects when I heard Ashley speaking badly in front of her tombstone.

It was then that I learned that Ashley had gone to his mother that night and wanted to be with him. His mom got angry and had a heart attack.

Ashley stole her medicine, causing her death. But by the time I was going to tell Jake, he’d already blocked my number.

So I had to go find him myself, and on the way I crashed and died. Maybe I was just delusional. In his heart, Ashley was perfect.

A phone rang, interrupting my thoughts. Jake frowned, but his face changed when he saw who it was.

“Jake, it’s mom’s anniversary tomorrow, want to go together?”

“Yeah, I’ll pick you up.”

“Okay.”

Then she hesitated, “What about Annie? Is she coming?”

Jake’s face fell, “She’s dead.”

After he hung up, Jake turned the car around. I followed him to the crematorium.
