Chapter 1 Hand Your Military Merits to Your Brother

Chanaea, Sunthunder Lake.
That was the domain of Silverwyrm, the ninth son of the Demon King, the fallen demon dragon. Countless demonic beasts lived here, launching frequent assaults on humanity’s border defenses.
At that moment, a fierce battle was raging.
Human soldiers fought desperately against the demonic beasts. The battlefield had become a sea of blood and corpses, and neither side was giving an inch.
Splash!
Suddenly, a figure shot out from the center of Sunthunder Lake, bursting through the water and sending towering waves in every direction.
A young man in crimson armor hovered proudly in the sky, gripping the massive corpse of a silver flood dragon in one hand. His cold voice boomed across nearly 1,000 miles of Sunthunder Lake.
“Silverwyrm is dead. Kill them all!”
The human troops instantly erupted in cheers. “All hail General Yount!”
Their morale soared as they charged forward with renewed fury, while the demonic beasts were struck with terror and turned to flee.
The deadlocked battle immediately became a one-sided slaughter.
An elderly man appeared beside the young man in the sky, smiling with satisfaction. “You led the army to conquer Sunthunder Lake and personally slew Silverwyrm. Looks like you’ll soon be wearing one more star on your shoulder than I am.”
When he noticed the young man wasn’t celebrating, his expression grew serious. “By the way, Seamus, how’s your cultivation? Have you sensed any opportunity to break into the Heavenly Realm?”
The young man shook his head with a sigh. “Not yet.”
In truth, his name wasn’t Seamus Yount. It was Skyler Yount. Three years ago, he had transmigrated from Earth into this advanced martial world overrun by demonic beasts.
His father was the commander-in-chief of the Demon Suppression Division in Southmere. Not only was he an Archmaster Realm expert, but he also held tremendous authority, wearing a single star on his shoulder.
His mother had been born into a wealthy family. Besides her family’s vast fortune, she had built a pharmaceutical company of her own that specialized in developing formulas to enhance a martial artist’s strength.
It should have been the perfect life. Unfortunately, Skyler had a younger brother named Seamus.
Skyler’s martial talent was mediocre, while Seamus was a once-in-a-generation prodigy. Ever since childhood, their parents had showered all their love and attention on the younger son.
Three years earlier, the demonic beasts had launched a massive invasion, throwing the border into crisis.
Chanaea began a nationwide military draft. Any martial artist could be selected for frontline service against the demonic beasts.
It was an incredibly dangerous assignment, with an 80% casualty rate. Unfortunately, Seamus was selected.
But there was no way the Younts would allow their precious son to risk his life.
So their father decided without hesitation. Skyler would take Seamus’s place and enlist instead.
Fortunately, as a transmigrator, Skyler awakened a system at the critical moment. Over the next three years on the front lines, he grew stronger through constant warfare.
Three years later, he had accumulated extraordinary military merits and risen to the rank of a four-star general.
His cultivation had also reached the terrifying level of a half step to the Heavenly Realm.
This time, Skyler had taken the initiative to lead his army against Sunthunder Lake for two reasons. One was to eliminate Silverwyrm and secure several years of peace for the border.
The other was to use the battle as an opportunity to find the breakthrough into the Heavenly Realm.
Unfortunately, he failed.
Looks like I have no choice but to dissipate and rebuild my cultivation.
Skyler sighed inwardly. He cultivated the Ninefold Genesis Art, a forbidden technique granted by the system. The technique required him to dissipate and rebuild cultivation nine separate times. Each reconstruction dramatically increased his cultivation speed while raising his maximum cultivation limit.
He was currently only on the first cycle. At this stage, his limit was a half step to the Heavenly Realm. Only by rebuilding his cultivation could he break through that ceiling and truly step into the Heavenly Realm.
Forget it. The border has already been secured, so there shouldn’t be another major war anytime soon. This is the perfect opportunity to rebuild my cultivation. While I’m at it, I can finally go home.
Having made up his mind, Skyler casually tossed Silverwyrm’s corpse toward the elderly man.
Taking a single step forward, he vanished from everyone’s sight. Only his calm voice lingered.
“Use Silverwyrm’s bones to forge me a spear. Have someone deliver it to the Yount Residence in Riverspire. I’m going home.”
The elderly man immediately exploded. “I’m the commander of the entire western warzone command! Since when did I become your errand boy?”
But when he thought of Skyler’s strength, he couldn’t help laughing.
Once Skyler broke through, the western warzone command would gain another Heavenly Realm powerhouse. Then those old geezers wouldn’t dare act so arrogantly in front of him anymore.
Thinking of that, he happily went off to carry out Skyler’s request.
…
Riverspire, Southmere.
Skyler appeared on the distant horizon. With a single step, he crossed the entire city and arrived in front of the Yount Residence.
His battle armor dissolved on its own, replaced by an ordinary set of casual clothes.
A blood-red crystal appeared in his hand. It contained all of the cultivation from his half step to the Heavenly Realm, allowing him to temporarily recover his peak strength whenever necessary.
It has been three years. I’ve spent three years fighting in Seamus’s place. I wonder if Dad and Mom have finally changed the way they see me.
Skyler thought to himself and was about to walk through the gate.
Right then, a woman’s delighted voice called out. “Skye!”
Four people had just stepped out of the Yount Residence. It was a middle-aged couple, a teenage boy, and a teenage girl.
They were Skyler’s parents and younger brother. As for the girl, Skyler knew her as well. She was Freya Sullivan, the daughter of the Sullivans, who had been betrothed to him since childhood.
The one who had called out was naturally his mother, Alice Yount.
She hurried over, looking him up and down with concern. “How have you been these past few years at the border? You weren’t hurt, were you? You’ve really suffered.”
Skyler smiled. “I’m fine, Mom.”
His usually stern father, Connor Yount, also softened and nodded. “It’s good that you’re back. I was just about to call and ask you to come home.”
Skyler smiled. It seemed his parents did feel guilty after all. Maybe the sacrifices he’d made over the past three years hadn’t been in vain.
Only Seamus continued glaring at him coldly, as though Skyler somehow owed him something.
Freya also looked noticeably awkward.
Skyler couldn’t be bothered with either of them. Instead, he turned to Connor. “Dad, did you need something from me?”
“Let’s go inside first,” Connor said, leading Skyler into the house. “We’ll talk at home.”
Everyone took a seat in the living room.
Only then did Connor get to the point. “Skyler, your brother will be taking the martial SAT in a month.
“Under the current policy, students with military merits receive bonus points on the martial SAT. With those extra points, Seamie has a real shot at becoming Southvale’s martial SAT top scorer.”
Hearing that, Seamus immediately lifted his chin, pride written all over his face.
Skyler paused, as though something had just occurred to him. With faint interest, he asked, “So?”
“So I want you to transfer your military merits to Seamie. As for you, you can do whatever you want after that. We’ll fully support you.”
