Chapter 10 I’m First, You’re Second!
Skyler’s Ninefold Genesis Art was constantly circulating through his body. With the support of his secret technique, his cultivation speed had reached an almost unimaginable level. Every step he took caused his cultivation realm to surge. He reached the eighth stage of the Postnatal Realm, then reached the ninth stage. Only then did the aura around him finally stabilize. By that point, everyone around him was utterly stunned. “The ninth stage of the Postnatal Realm? What’s going on?” “Wasn’t Skyler only at the sixth stage of the Postnatal Realm? How did he suddenly jump to the ninth?” “He broke through one minor stage with every step!” Listening to the shocked cries around them, Seamus and Freya both frowned. Helen, meanwhile, stared at Skyler in astonishment. Was he really the “worthless loser” everyone kept talking about? Even Teagan couldn’t help being shaken. An 18-year-old at the ninth stage of the Postnatal Realm might not compare to a prodigy like Seamus, but calling someone like that a failure was absurd. Connor, on the other hand, merely snorted. “He was obviously hiding his cultivation before, and now he’s revealing it just to attract attention. Petty tricks are all he’s good at.” He had never paid any attention to Skyler’s cultivation in the first place and simply assumed Skyler had concealed it deliberately. Raymond, however, narrowed his eyes. He had specifically examined Skyler’s cultivation moments ago. Skyler had clearly been at the sixth stage of the Postnatal Realm. As an Archmaster Realm expert, there was no way he should have misjudged it. At that moment, Seamus sneered. “So what if you’ve reached the ninth stage of the Postnatal Realm? The gap between the Postnatal Realm and the Innate Realm is huge. I’d like to see how you plan to surpass me!” Everyone nodded in agreement. Freya was also at the ninth stage of the Postnatal Realm, yet her strongest attack had produced only 8,900 pounds of force. It was still nowhere near Seamus. Even after advancing to the ninth stage, Skyler shouldn’t be stronger than Freya, let alone Seamus. But in the next instant, everyone’s eyes widened. Skyler threw a straightforward punch into the strength tester without any fancy movement. Boom! The machine let out a thunderous sound. Then an enormous number appeared on the display. It’s 13,588! “What?!” Everyone froze as they stared at the bright red digits. Freya and Helen were completely dumbfounded. Seamus’s pupils contracted violently, and even his breathing faltered. Even the examiner took several seconds before finding his voice. “Skyler, 13,588 pounds, 189 points!” Although the score matched Seamus’s exactly, everyone knew that Skyler had won. An Innate Realm martial artist had internal energy, giving them a tremendous advantage in raw power. Yet Skyler relied solely on the ninth stage of the Postnatal Realm without using any fist technique. Not only did it match Seamus’s score, but it also exceeded his strength by one pound. If the two were in the same cultivation realm and Skyler mastered some high-level martial skills, he might crush Seamus completely. The thought made Seamus clench his fists so tightly that his knuckles turned white. His expression darkened. Even Connor’s face changed slightly. Skyler glanced flatly at Seamus. “Do you see the difference now?” “You…” Seamus ground his teeth in fury. “Don’t get ahead of yourself. Matching me in raw strength doesn’t mean you’ve surpassed me. “The real highlight is actual combat. I don’t believe you can beat me there.” The third section of the mock exam was actual combat. It was the most important portion of the entire exam, worth 500 points. Seamus believed Skyler only had brute strength. Actual combat required far more than power alone. He was absolutely confident he could crush Skyler. “Is that so?” Skyler almost laughed out loud. Seamus actually wanted to compare combat skills with him? Forget Seamus. Even Connor wasn’t qualified. In all of Chanaea, there were only a handful of people capable of matching Skyler’s combat experience. After all, in just three short years, he had climbed from an ordinary soldier to a five-star general through nothing but relentless battles against demonic beasts. Skyler couldn’t even be bothered to argue further. Instead, he turned to Helen. “It’s your turn.” Only then did Helen snap out of her daze. She walked over to the strength tester. Just as she was about to strike, Skyler’s calm voice rang out. “Lower your center of gravity. Rotate your waist to the right. Channel the force through your entire body…” Helen hurriedly followed every instruction. The surrounding students immediately burst into exclamations. “What is he doing?” “Does he seriously think he can help Helen beat Freya?” “Give me a break. Whatever trick let him surpass Seamus is one thing, but helping Helen surpass Freya with just a few pointers? That’s impossible!” Everyone shook their heads. Not a single person believed Skyler could actually pull it off. Seamus and Freya sneered as well. They wanted to see exactly how Skyler planned to help Helen outperform Freya. Only Teagan had a flicker of uncertainty in her eyes. Boom! At that moment, Helen drove her palm into the strength tester. Everyone immediately looked toward the display. The next second, their eyes widened in shock. The number displayed was unmistakably 9,000 pounds! At the sixth stage of the Postnatal Realm, Helen should normally have been capable of only 3,000 or 4,000 pounds of force. Yet after following Skyler’s guidance, her palm strike had produced a massive force of 9,000 pounds, even surpassing Freya by 100 pounds. “How is that possible?!” Even Seamus and Freya’s expressions froze. “Helen, 9,000 pounds, 149 points.” Only after the examiner announced the result did the two finally snap back to reality. Their faces turned incredibly ugly. Neither of them could comprehend how Skyler had accomplished such a thing. But the most shocked person wasn’t either of them. It was Teagan. Her gaze flickered uncertainly as she recalled what had happened in Skyler’s room this morning. He had also given her pointers. He had pointed out that she possessed an innate energy point in her left hand and suggested that she focus her strength through her left arm. At that time, she had dismissed it as complete nonsense. Could he actually have been telling the truth? I have to test it later! “Nine thousand pounds?” Helen stood there in a daze, staring at the number on the display. She couldn’t believe she’d produced that result herself. “Is… is this really my strength?” She looked down at her own hands as though she were dreaming. “Of course it is.” Skyler said with a smile. “I told you. Your martial talent has never been inferior to Freya’s. “In today’s mock exam, I’ll finish first, Seamus will be second, and your score will be higher than Freya’s!” Seamus and Freya both let out cold snorts when they heard that. “Don’t celebrate too early, Skyler,” Seamus said icily. “Just wait until the third section. I’ll crush you!” Freya also glared defiantly at Skyler and Helen. Skyler shook his head in disdain. Now that he had dissipated and rebuilt his cultivation, Seamus still had an edge over him in the cultivation realm and raw strength. But in actual combat, even ten Seamuses couldn’t match a single one of his fingers.
