Toby wiped the sweat from his face and gave him a mocking smile. “Haven’t you been telling everyone that you have already reached the Ascension Realm? Yet you don’t even have the courage to step outside the barrier. Is this how a legendary five-star general acts?”

Seamus’s face burned with embarrassment. He stammered, unable to come up with a response.

Seamus immediately pointed at Skyler and shouted, “Send him! Didn’t Skyler say on the bus that he wasn’t afraid of taking on an Ascension Realm expert? If that’s true, he must be capable of carrying out the mission to eliminate their leader!”

Quinn flew into a rage.

She pointed at Seamus and was about to curse him out, but Skyler stepped in front of her.

“It’s fine, Quinn. This isn’t the time to argue. The barrier class won’t be able to hold on much longer. I’ll take the mission.”

The students immediately looked at Skyler with newfound respect.

With that, Skyler charged through the barrier and vanished from everyone’s sight in the blink of an eye.

In the dense forest beside the highway, Skyler raced forward with the corpse of a Winged Serpent slung over his shoulder. Its blood soaked his clothes, masking his scent.

A mission notification continued flashing on the system interface.

Skyler licked his lips excitedly. It had been a long time since he had received a mission that rewarded him with an increase in cultivation. He had never expected one to appear here.

Moving like a ghost, Skyler raced through the forest and soon reached the edge of a valley.

Suddenly, a pale white snake creature emerged from beneath the shade of the trees. It had a serpent’s head and humanlike arms. Gripping a long spear in its right hand, it pointed toward the highway and let out a piercing hiss.

Hundreds of blood-soaked spikes tore through the air. They formed a vast wall in the sky and shot toward the highway in the distance.

Boom! Boom! Boom!

A series of explosions soon echoed from afar.,
