Because the partial shift could happen again, I remained under observation at the healing center for several days.
Sometimes I crossed paths with Grant in the hallway. We passed each other like wolves from two entirely different packs, never speaking.
Mia tried to approach me a few times. I gave her nothing.
Once, she hurried to block my way. My phone buzzed a moment later.
She had sent me a fifty-dollar coffee gift card with a note: *Sorry for everything.*

Mia stood there and watched me do it, her eyes instantly
reddening.
