Chapter 239 Luring the Beast Tide

Chapter 239 Luring the Beast Tide

A scarred man stepped out of the shadows and regarded Skyler coldly. “Yes, Mr. Murray

Skyler glanced at Victor and noticed that he bore a striking resemblance to Calone. He paid it no further attention, giving a slight nod before quickly departing.

The reinforcements soon arrived at Fieldhaven Outpost, where battle had already erupted. Countless demonic beasts surged against the outpost’s defenses like a black flood.

The Fieldhaven Outpost garrison was badly outnumbered and had fallen into a disadvantage. Without the camp’s barrier holding back most of the attacks, the outpost would’ve fallen long ago.

Skyler asked, “Where are the reinforcements from the other camps?”

“The other camps are too far away,” Gordon answered. “It’ll take them at least two hours to arrive.”

Taking a deep breath, Skyler said, “That’s too late. The barrier won’t last two hours. We need to reinforce them immediately.”

Gordon and the others tightened their grips on their weapons, ready to fight. Victor and his soldiers, however, remained off to the side without any intention of moving.

Skyler’s voice turned cold. “What are you doing?”

Victor scoffed. “There are too many beasts. Charging in now would be suicide. We should wait until the other reinforcements arrive.”

Gordon flew into a rage. “Are you suggesting we stand here and watch our comrades die?”

Folding his arms contemptuously, Victor replied, “People die in war.”

“You.” Gordon rolled up his sleeves and moved to strike him.

Skyler hurriedly stopped Gordon and glared at Victor. “You’re willing to watch your comrades get slaughtered by demonic beasts. You don’t deserve to call yourselves soldiers. If you’re afraid, stay here and tremble. Gordon, take our people and move out.”

Gordon nodded firmly, rallied the Skyward Martial Academy team, and followed Skyler toward the beast tide.

A crisp chime sounded as the System issued Skyler a mission.

[Random mission activated. Drive back the beast tide and lift the siege on Fieldhaven Outpost. Reward: Increase two stages of Archmaster Realm cultivation.]

Skyler’s eyes lit up. He hadn’t expected a random mission to activate now.

He knew Joshua had ordered Victor to accompany him as part of a trap, intending for him to die at the jaws of the demonic beasts.

But now, the trap looked more like the perfect opportunity Skyler needed.

Hthree-month pact with Felicity was drawing near, and he’d been worried about his slow cultivation progress. Joshua had unexpectedly given him the perfect opportunity.

A competent commander would’ve rushed to Fieldhaven Outpost and resolved the crisis immediately Skyler would never have received this chance. With that in mind. Joshua no longer seemed quite so detestable.

Gordon clenched his fists. “Skyler, how are we going to fight them?”

Skyler returned to his senses, his expression turning serious. “You’re as powerful as Victor’s soldiers, bu you lack combat experience. You’ll suffer if you fight these beasts head-on. We need to use strategy to win.

“Give the orders, Skyler,” one of the upperclassmen said. “We’ll follow your command.”

The others looked at him with complete resolve.

Skyler nodded, spread a map across the ground, and pointed to a horseshoe-shaped valley. “Go there and establish defensive positions and formation arrays. I’ll lure the beast tide into the valley, then we’ll ambush

them.”

Gordon stared at him in alarm. “You’re going to lure the entire beast tide? That’s too dangerous. I won’t allow it.”

Another upperclasswoman spoke up. “There are many demonic beasts, including several fourth-tier and fifth-tier beasts. A sixth-tier beast may be among them too. You’re powerful, Skyler, but your cultivation is still limited. Let us handle it.”

“She’s right,” Gordon agreed quickly. “I have the highest cultivation here. I’ll lure the beast tide.”

Skyler grinned and patted his shoulder. “Of course you’re going, Gordon. You’re coming with me.”

“But,” Gordon began.

Skyler immediately cut him off. “We’re in the middle of a crisis. We don’t have time to waste. Follow my orders and move out.”

Intimidated by Skyler’s authority, everyone fell silent and began carrying out their assignments.

On a distant cliff, Victor stood with his arms folded and watched Skyler’s group closely. “They’re splitting up? What are these students thinking?”

Martin emerged from the darkness and strolled over to him. It was probably that arrogant brat Skyler’s idea. He’s always thought he was invincible.”

Victor snorted. “He’s an inexperienced fool who knows nothing about war. Does he think the beasts on a real battlefield are like the toys they killed in an illusion?”

The soldiers behind them exchanged uneasy looks. One finally asked. “Company Commander, they’re still kids. Are we really going to stand here and do nothing?”

Victor’s eyes turned cold as he glared at the soldier. “A soldier’s duty is to obey orders. I said we arent

ping, so keep your mouth shut.”

The soldiers clenched their teeth but ultimately withdrew.

At the front of Fieldhaven Outpost, Skyler and Gordon quietly approached the beast tide.

Gordon wiped sticky beast blood from his face and grinned. “Your method works perfectly. We’re practically standing under their noses, yet they still haven’t noticed us.”

Skyler watched the nearby beasts intently, his expression grave.
