The Wrights had arranged Seamus’s promotion to general, and the authorities had never denied his identity. That meant everyone had reached a silent consensus. Anyone who interfered would inevitably invite trouble.
Quinn and the others were patriotic young people. Skyler didn’t want them dragged into this conflict.
His excuse clearly failed to convince them. Quinn frowned and asked, “Then how did you gain control of the communications department with one phone call?”

Expertly adjusting the base station, Skyler casually explained, “The Leonards support me. They’re a Heavenly Realm family, so the military has to show them some respect.
“I only asked for a communications station. They granted me a small favor out of respect for the Leonards.”
Everyone exchanged glances and reluctantly accepted his explanation.
Three days later, under Skyler’s guidance, the students had mastered the military communicators. More than a dozen students specializing in communications began working efficiently, allowing Skyler to gain a clear picture of the war.
With reinforcements from the royal families and other powerful lineages, the situation along Northville’s border had stabilized. Most of the invading demonic beasts were dead, though scattered packs continued to rampage through the region.
The situation remained uncertain. Fighting continued along the border front line, and Chanaea had deployed its finest forces to eradicate the beast tide.
A soldier’s passion burned within Skyler. He longed to rush to the border and slaughter every demonic beast that had invaded humanity’s homeland, but reason told him to remain calm.
The front line was important, but this camp was equally indispensable. Supplies flowed continuously from Mistcloud Mountain to the battlefield. If the beasts severed this route, tens of thousands of soldiers would lose their provisions.
Skyler had to defend this place with his life.
A student operating a communicator suddenly called out, “Report. Fieldhaven Outpost is under attack by a massive beast tide. They’re requesting reinforcements from nearby camps,”
Skyler walked over to the strategic map with a grim expression. Fieldhaven Outpost was a supply camp near Mistcloud Mountain, and its strategic importance was, second only to Mistcloud Mountain itself.
Clenching his fist, Skyler cursed, “Fuck. Those beasts tricked us.”
Quinn and the others looked over in confusion. “What do you mean?”
Skyler pointed at Northville’s border. “The demonic beasts broke through our defenses and seized nearly a thousand miles of territory. Even with immediate reinforcements, we shouldn’t have driven them back

across the border so quickly.”

Realization dawned on Quinn. “The beasts deliberately withdrew to stretch our battle lines. They forced our elite troops to the border, leaving us without enough soldiers to hunt the roaming packs.”
Skyler nodded and traced a line across the map. “Our army has advanced too far. If the supply line is severed, the troops at the front will be isolated. The moment they run out of supplies, morale will collapse.”
“Damn it. It’s an open scheme.” Quinn slammed her fist onto the table, trembling with rage. “Even though we know their plan, we still have to engage them and secure the border front line.”
Gordon spoke firmly. “Our troops are still fighting and bleeding at the front. We can’t leave them stranded. We must reinforce Fieldhaven Outpost.”
Skyler nodded. “Gordon, assess our combat strength. Take half the upperclassmen and prepare to deploy I’ll request authorization.”
“I’m coming too.” Quinn said quickly.
Skyler shook his head. “Mistcloud Mountain is the most important hub on this supply line. Nothing can happen here. I don’t trust Zachery, so you need to stay and take charge.”
Quinn opened her mouth, but ultimately stepped back. “Come back victorious, Skyler.”
At the camp’s command center, Skyler kicked open the door. “Fieldhaven Outpost has requested aid. I’m deploying immediately. Make the arrangements.”
Zachery seemed to have forgotten his fear from several days ago. He merely glanced over with contempt when he heard Skyler’s voice.
Skyler narrowed his eyes when he spotted a familiar face inside. “Joshua.”
Joshua sat comfortably in a chair, smiling as he spoke with Zachery. Upon seeing Skyler, he said, “Mr. Silva is still the camp’s commanding officer. How can you be so disrespectful?”
Skyler didn’t answer. Instead, he turned toward the window and saw more than two hundred people gathered in the usually empty square. Every one of them possessed at least Archmaster Realm cultivation.
Staring at them coldly, Skyler asked, “Did the northern warzone command send reinforcements?”
Joshua nodded. “The higher-ups noticed demonic beasts roaming near the supply line. They were worried something might happen, so they deployed additional forces. I was ordered to come as well.”
“If you’re here to reinforce us, why haven’t you gone to Fieldhaven Outpost?” Skyler glared at him, his gaze murderous. “It’s under attack by a beast tide.”
Joshua immediately adopted an exaggerated expression. “What? Fieldhaven Outpost is under attack? I never received that intelligence.”
“You know now,” Skyler snapped. Why haven’t you deployed your troops?”

Skyler had no patience for further nonsense. He swept his sleeve aside and turned toward the exit. “Then defend Mistcloud Mountain. I’ll go to Fieldhaven Outpost.”
Joshua chuckled. “Why the hurry? I never said I wouldn’t send reinforcements. Company Commander Boyd, take fifty soldiers and assist Skyler.”
