The mantis beast had focused entirely on him. It grinned viciously, savoring the human’s despair. 

Then something unexpected happened. The claws of the two fifth-tier beasts struck Skyler, but their razor-sharp talons-might as well have hit solid steel. They produced only two dull clangs. 

A smile spread across Skyler’s face before he vanished from the spot. 

Caught off guard, the mantis beast couldn’t stop its attack. Its blades plunged deep into the ground. 

Skyler appeared in midair and twisted at the waist. The Worldbane Dragon Spear shot forward and/ pierced the mantis beast’s eye. 

The creature let out an agonized shriek and stumbled backward, clutching its bleeding eye. 

Skyler landed gracefully and thrust his spear twice, piercing the two stunned fifth-tier beasts. 

“Useless.” Skyler snorted, raised his middle finger at the mantis beast, and retreated after Gordon. 

The mantis beast lay on the ground with fury blazing in its remaining eye. When it unleashed another roar, every beast shuddered before charging after Skyler as though they’d received a command. 

Skyler quickly caught up with Gordon in the forest, moving faster than him. 

Gordon stared at him in astonishment. “Skyler, are you a body cultivator?” 

As an Ascension Realm expert, Gordon knew how sharp demonic beasts’ claws were. Only a body cultivator could withstand attacks from two beasts at the same level without suffering a scratch. 

Skyler merely smiled and continued running. He could hardly admit that he’d drained all the spiritual energy from the Ascension Pool. 

Before long, they entered Horseshoe Valley. The beast tide poured into the valley behind them as the mantis beast waved its blades and roared at Skyler, eager to tear him apart. 

Once the entire horde had entered, Skyler and Gordon stopped. 

“That should be enough, right?” Gordon asked. 

Skyler nodded, turned around, and leveled his spear at the beast tide. 

The mantis beast hacked apart every creature blocking its path and advanced furiously toward them. Its expression seemed to ask why they had stopped running. 

Skyler chuckled and launched a spear blast into the sky. A moment later, Toby descended with three barrier specialists. 

A humming sound filled the air as the four students raised a barrier and sealed the entrance to Horseshoe,

Skyward Martial Academy’s elite students appeared atop the cliffs on both sides. They immediately gathered their full strength and attacked the beasts below. 

Explosions thundered throughout the valley, throwing demonic beasts through the air as anguished cries rang out. 

The mantis beast finally realized it had fallen into a human trap. It ordered the horde to charge both cigs. hoping to overwhelm the ambushers with sheer numbers. 

But the students had been waiting for some time and hadn’t remained idle. More than a dozen of them formed hand seals simultaneously. 

Deadly formation arrays lit up across the ground. Wind blades tore through the beasts as flames surged, vines constricted like snakes, and stone spears struck like blades. 

Countless demonic beasts were shredded before they could resist, leaving the ground covered in mangled 

remains. 

The mantis beast looked around in horror. All the fury in its eyes disappeared, leaving only fear. 

Skyler planted the Worldbane Dragon Spear against the ground. “Gordon, now you can fight it fairly.” 

Gordon’s eyes gleamed as he immediately strode toward the mantis beast. 

Night wind howled through the dark forest. Amid the beasts’ anguished cries, golden dragon energy swirled around Gordon’s palms as he strode toward the mantis beast. 

The beast tide was under attack, and the mantis beast’s fighting spirit had weakened. When it felt the pressure of Gordon’s Ascension Realm cultivation, it grew fearful and retreated. 

Gordon laughed confidently. “Prepare to die, you wretched beast.” 

He spread his hands, and two golden dragons began circling rapidly. They seemed ready to surge forward and devour every living creature before them. 

At that moment, Skyler called out, “Don’t kill it yet, Gordon. Provoke it.” 

Gordon froze and instinctively looked toward him. Skyler wasn’t watching the battle. Instead, he was frowning at the cliffs on both sides. 

Gordon immediately understood Skyler’s plan, and his respect for him deepened. “Understood.” 

Without hesitation, Gordon leaped forward and attacked the mantis beast. 

Watching Gordon’s determined back, Skyler silently apologized to him. 

Skyler had too few troops, and all of them were still students. Although they were talented and powerful, they lacked real combat experience and couldn’t respond quickly enough to changes on a chaotic battlefield.
