Chapter 3 Living for Myself!

Skyler’s voice rang out like a hammer strike.
For a brief moment, the entire living room went dead silent. Then the atmosphere instantly tightened, as if the air itself had frozen.
“What did you just say?” Connor stared at Skyler in utter disbelief.
Alice hadn’t expected him to say something like that either.
Skyler smiled mockingly. “What? Wasn’t I clear enough? Fine, I’ll repeat myself.”
His gaze swept coldly over Connor and Alice.
“You two aren’t worthy of being my parents!
“From this moment on, I cut all ties with the Younts!”
Boom!
The moment his words fell, Connor’s terrifying aura of the peak of the Archmaster Realm erupted.
Every porcelain piece in the living room shattered instantly.
Even the floor tiles cracked apart.
An overwhelming pressure crashed down on everyone, making it feel like they could barely breathe.
“How dare you!” Connor roared coldly. “You ungrateful brat! Kneel now!”
That terrifying pressure surged toward Skyler, trying to force him down.
Skyler smiled disdainfully. He was a war-hardened five-star general who had clawed his way up from the borderlands. There were at least thousands of Archmasters under his command.
Even if he had now scattered his cultivation and become an ordinary man, there was no way an Archmaster’s pressure could force him to his knees.
Enduring that dreadful pressure head-on, Skyler slowly rose from the couch.
Then, he walked toward the door steadily.
Connor’s eyes flashed with surprise. He hadn’t expected Skyler to endure his pressure at all.
“Skye!” Alice panicked and hurried after him.
“Mrs. Yount, please keep your distance. Call me by my name. We’re not that close,” Skyler said coldly.
Alice opened her mouth, her heart twisting in pain.
She never expected things to end up like that.
Behind them, Connor sneered in rage. “Fine! Good! You want to leave? Then get out!
“Without your military merits, the Younts would’ve supported you for life. You could’ve at least lived as a wealthy heir.
“Now that you’ve lost us as your backing, I’d like to see how you survive!”
Skyler didn’t stop walking. He left the Yount Residence without hesitation.
“Connor!” Alice snapped angrily. “Skyler is still our son! Do you have to say that harshly?”
“Son?” Connor barked back. “What kind of son acts like that? He dared oppose me! Didn’t you hear what he said? He said we’re not worthy of being his parents!”
“He… he was just speaking out of anger!” Alice said anxiously. “I don’t care. You have to bring him back!”
“Hmph!” Connor snorted coldly. With his status, there was no way he would ever lower himself to go after Skyler.
Seamus quickly walked over to comfort her. “Mom, don’t worry. Without us, Skyler is nothing.
“When he can’t survive out there anymore, he’ll naturally come back on his own, crying and begging you to forgive him.”
“That’s right,” Connor said coldly. “Throwing a temper in front of me? I’m not indulging him!”
Alice still felt uneasy, but Skyler had already left. There was nothing more she could do.
“Dad, what about the military merits?” Seamus asked then.
That was what mattered most to him. With his current strength, getting into the top ten martial academies wouldn’t be a problem.
But if he wanted to secure Riverspire’s top scorer in the martial SAT, he absolutely needed military merits to boost his score.
“Don’t worry. Skyler went to the military in your place back then. Those military merits were always under your name. This is just putting things back where they belong.
“Focus on improving your strength, refining your combat skills, and preparing for the martial SAT.”
Only then did Seamus finally relax.
“Dad, don’t worry. As long as I have military merits, I’ll get extra points. I’m definitely going to take first place in Southmere’s martial SAT.
“Once I enter Skyward Martial Academy as the state’s top scorer, I’ll get their full support. Give me enough time, and our family will have a Saint Realm lineage!”
Connor was full of satisfaction and approval. “Good. As expected of my son. From now on, our family is counting on you.”
He snorted coldly. “If that good-for-nothing Skyler had even one-tenth of your talent, he wouldn’t be such a useless failure!”
Seamus returned to his room with great satisfaction and began cultivating.
Freya also said her goodbyes and left the Yount Residence, heading back home.
In the living room, only Connor and Alice remained.
“Alice, spread the word immediately. Say that Seamus, who enlisted three years ago, has returned. In three days, we’ll hold a celebration banquet and invite all major families in Riverspire to attend.
“I’ll go meet the principal of Riverspire High and get Seamus enrolled. I’m basically handing him a future state top scorer. He’ll probably be smiling in his dreams.”
Since “Seamus” had joined the military three years ago, Connor had kept the real Seamus on a low profile all this time and never enrolled him in school.
Now that Skyler had returned, the identity of “Seamus” could naturally be given back to him.
With that, Connor immediately left excitedly to contact Riverspire High’s principal.
Since it concerned their precious son, Alice didn’t dare delay. She quickly followed Connor’s instructions and released the news.
After finishing, Alice finally began to worry about Skyler.
Right after returning home, Skyler had a falling out with the family. It wouldn’t be easy to bring him back, so she could only think of another way.
After thinking it over, Alice called her best friend.
Skyler had just returned and already left home, and he probably didn’t have anywhere to go. She could only ask her best friend to help look after him.
…
After leaving the Younts, Skyler didn’t feel the heavy emotions he had expected. Instead, he felt an overwhelming sense of relief.
“I used to be so naive. I thought that if I went to the military in Seamus’s place, they’d feel guilty toward me. Turns out I was the only one thinking that.”
Skyler shook his head. “From beginning to end, they only ever saw Seamus as their real son. I was never anything at all.
“Cutting ties completely is fine. From now on, I’ll live for myself.”
Back when he first entered high school, Skyler had gone to the military in Seamus’s place.
Now that he had already dissipated his cultivation and rebuilt it from scratch, he might as well go back to school.
Besides, the martial SAT was coming up in a month. Since Connor and Alice wanted Seamus to become the state’s top scorer so badly, he would take that title for himself.
“Right now, the most important thing is finding a place to stay and sorting out enrollment.” Skyler thought for a moment. “I remember Dominic retired and came back to Riverspire.”
With that in mind, Skyler immediately called his former subordinate.
When Dominic Webb heard Skyler was back in Riverspire and needed a place to stay for a while, he was overjoyed.
After confirming Skyler’s location, he immediately drove over to pick him up.
Almost the moment Skyler hung up, a sharp screech of brakes sounded nearby. A bright red sports car pulled up beside him.
A beautiful woman in her 20s sat in the driver’s seat. She removed her sunglasses and glanced at Skyler sideways. “Are you Skyler?”
