But just as Raymond was about to get to the bottom of exactly what had happened, Skyler spotted Dominic in the office at a single glance.

“Hey, Dominic, you’re here too.” Skyler smiled and walked right over to sit down beside him.

Dominic felt a flash of delight and was about to rise and salute.

But remembering there were so many outsiders present, he held it back after all.

“Dominic?” Raymond, off to the side, was slightly taken aback at the sight, because wasn’t Skyler being awfully disrespectful?

And Quillan hurriedly barked out in reproach, “Skyler, get on your feet this instant!

“Do you have any idea who this is? This is Commandant Webb of the Riverspire Garrison!”

Sure enough, Dominic’s brow knitted.

Just as Quillan assumed Dominic was about to lay into Skyler, he saw Dominic sweep a cold glance over him instead.

“You’re a teacher at Riverspire High? Whether he stands or sits is none of your concern. Say what you came to say.”

Under the sweep of Dominic’s gaze, Quillan felt as though a mountain were bearing down on him, that terrifying aura pressing down until sweat poured off him like rain.

He was left completely dumbstruck, because he’d reproached Skyler to defend Dominic’s authority, so why was Dominic turning around and blaming him?

“Yes.” But Quillan naturally didn’t dare show the slightest displeasure and could only lower his head as he answered, “A moment ago in the classroom, Skyler made a move against Seamus.

“I already stepped in to stop him, but he carried on exactly as he pleased and beat Seamus into critical condition right in front of me.”

“Right in front of you?” Raymond was surprised. “And you didn’t step in to stop him?”

Quillan was a Grandmaster Realm expert, so no matter how impressive Skyler was, there was no way he could beat Quillan.

“Hm?” As he was thinking this, Raymond suddenly noticed Skyler’s cultivation. “The second

stage of the Innate Realm.”

In a mere two days, his cultivation had actually broken through yet again, and by two whole minor stages in one go at that.

Even with Dragon Essence to aid his cultivation, a speed like this was a bit frightening, wasn’t it?

At the words, Quillan’s face flushed red, because he could hardly bring himself to admit that a single glance from Skyler had left him shaken to the core.

Only Dominic was laughing to himself inside, because if Skyler wanted to make a move, forget an ordinary teacher-even Raymond himself couldn’t possibly hold him back.

“All right, all right, you can go on out now.” Dominic waved a hand.

Quillan glanced at Raymond, and seeing him nod, he set Seamus down on the couch off to the side and then withdrew.

Raymond went over to check on Seamus’s condition and couldn’t help frowning. “Dominic, how do you think we should handle this?”

“How to handle?” Dominic smiled. “This Seamus kid figured a little talent meant he could look down on everyone, so ending up like this is nothing more than what he brought on himself.

“Have Connor take him home and give him a proper lecture, or one of these days he won’t even know how he got himself killed.”

Raymond raised an eyebrow, because wasn’t Dominic playing favorites with Skyler?

Setting aside who was right and who was wrong for the moment, at the end of the day it was Skyler who’d hurt Seamus this badly, yet here he was saying Seamus had brought it on himself.

And on top of that he wanted Connor to take Seamus home for a proper lecture?

He shook his head. “Dominic, you know Connor’s temper as well as I do, and he’s pinned such high hopes on Seamus and dotes on him to no end.

“Now that Skyler’s hurt him this badly, if Connor isn’t given some kind of explanation, he probably won’t let the matter drop.”

Dominic laughed the moment he heard this. “An explanation for him? Raymond, don’t blame me for not warning you, but some people are a blessing when your paths cross.

“Just don’t let one wrong move turn a perfectly good blessing into an enemy, because that would be a losing trade.”

A glint flashed in Raymond’s eyes, and he couldn’t help glancing at Skyler, who sat beside Dominic.

Could the person Dominic meant be Skyler?

But Skyler was nothing more than a junior at the Innate Realm, and his background was nothing special either, just a son the Younts had cast aside.

His talent might be decent, but Dominic’s words were surely a bit of an exaggeration.

Dominic, however, showed no intention of explaining. “As for Connor, hmph, the man can’t see what’s right in front of him.

“If he wants an explanation, then let him come find me. Or he can bring along whatever backing he’s got, and play whatever cards he’s holding.

“I’d really like to see whether he can so much as touch a single hair on Skyler’s head.”

Listening to this, the spot between Raymond’s brows kept twitching.

What is Dominic getting at?

Connor is the commander-in-chief of Southmere’s Demon Suppression Division, and whether in status and standing, or in background and connections, or in his own cultivation, he outranks Dominic.

Yet Dominic actually dares to talk this way, so just who’s giving him the nerve?

Seeming to read Raymond’s thoughts, Dominic gave a slight smile. “Let me lay it out for you too. Forget a mere Connor.

“Even in all of Chanaea, even if people from those centuries-old great families and Saint- Realm lineages came, there are some folks they simply can’t afford to provoke.”

Raymond’s heart quaked, and he found it rather hard to believe.

But Dominic still showed no intention of explaining.

It wasn’t until this point that Skyler finally spoke up. “Dominic, I need a stalk of feathergrass. Do you know anywhere that sells it?”

“Feathergrass?” Dominic immediately straightened up and sat at attention, answering, “I don’t know the specifics, but the Blackvale Chamber of Commerce is holding an auction shortly, so

there might be some. I’ll go take a look in a bit.”

Raymond was stunned all over again.

Dominic’s attitude toward Skyler was nothing at all like the way one would treat an ordinary junior.

If anything… if anything, it was a little like facing a commanding officer.

His posture and manner especially, almost instinctive as they were, simply couldn’t be faked.

What on earth was going on here? Raymond was now completely at a loss.

“No need. I’ll just make a trip there myself in a bit.” Skyler shook his head. “If there’s nothing else, I’ll be on my way.”
