Chapter 29 The Teacher Apologizes

Dominic’s expression turned sharp in an instant, his aura stern and commanding, his edge laid bare.

“But rather that you’re not yet worthy to know his identity!”

“What?” For a moment, even Raymond was stunned.

He’d considered many possibilities, but no matter what, he’d never imagined Dominic would answer this way.

“All right, I’ve said all I’m going to say, so I’ll be off.” Dominic took his leave then and there, leaving Raymond alone, his mind unable to settle for the longest time.

It was a while before he called in Quillan, who’d been waiting outside the door.

“Mr. Hunt.” Quillan’s manner was respectful.

Raymond mused for a moment before instructing him, “From now on, whatever Skyler does in class, let him do as he pleases and don’t interfere.”

“Then what about Seamus…” Quillan looked at Seamus, lying gravely wounded and unconscious on the couch.

Though Raymond had a bit of a headache over it, he’d already made up his mind by this point. “I’ll call Connor myself in a little while and have him come collect his son.

“What Commandant Webb said just now was right. Seamus prides himself on a little talent and thinks the world beneath him, so arrogant and full of himself that he ought to learn a hard lesson.”

At this, Quillan was utterly floored.

Just who in the world is this Skyler, that Raymond would go so far as to offend Connor to protect him?

Could it be because of Dominic?

But that didn’t add up, because Dominic was nothing more than a lowly commandant of the Riverspire Garrison, while Connor was the commander-in-chief of Southmere’s Demon Suppression Division.

Between the two of them, there was a whole rank’s worth of difference!

Still, he knew this wasn’t the sort of thing he ought to be prying into, and since Raymond had already spoken, he naturally nodded in agreement at once.

Meanwhile, in the classroom.

“Skyler still isn’t back. Looks like he’s really in for it today,” someone sighed softly.

Helen kept glancing toward the doorway, her heart full of worry.

Hearing this, she said indignantly, “But it was clearly Seamus who struck first. Skyler had flatly refused and wanted no part of fighting him, yet Seamus forced the issue and ambushed him from behind, so he was plainly the one in the wrong to begin with.”

“So what?” Freya said with a cold laugh. “No one would’ve said a word about Skyler fighting back, but Mr. Howard had already told him to stop, and he still had the nerve to resort to violence, so he has to face the consequences.

“Besides, in this world, it’s not just talent that decides things, but family and background too.

“A cast-off son the Younts abandoned, and he actually dared to gravely wound the Younts’ golden boy. This time he’s a dead man!”

Granted, the terrifying strength and presence Skyler had shown a moment ago had, for a time, made her wonder whether she’d chosen wrong.

But now that she’d chosen Seamus, there was no turning back.

If Skyler really was this impressive, then he had to be nipped in the bud before he could grow into his full power.

That way, she wouldn’t count as having chosen wrong.

Yet almost the instant the words left Freya’s mouth, a voice drifted over coolly. “Who did you say was a dead man?”

Skyler walked in from the doorway.

Everyone turned to look at him, and there he stood, perfectly fine, without a scratch on him.

“Skyler, you’re okay!” Helen’s eyes lit up, and she was overjoyed.

Freya, on the other hand, couldn’t help her eyes going wide. “How is this possible?”

Seamus was hurt that badly, so how did Raymond and Quillan dare let Skyler come back? Weren’t they afraid of Connor’s fury?

And even if they didn’t punish Skyler, they still had to hand him over to Connor, didn’t they?

“I’m fine.” Skyler gave Helen a reassuring look.

Then he turned to Freya and said coldly, “Freya, let me give you a piece of advice. Whether it’s you or Seamus, or anyone else, you’d all best not come provoking me from now on.

“Otherwise…” Skyler’s tone turned chilling. “I’ve got no problem killing people!”

It was just a single simple sentence, yet Freya felt a chill run down her spine, as if she’d nearly tumbled into the deepest pit of hell.

The feeling Skyler gave her was simply too terrifying.

“Mr. Howard’s back again!” It wasn’t until someone off to the side spoke up that Freya came out of that terrifying sensation.

Skyler must have snuck back while Mr. Hunt and Mr. Howard weren’t paying attention, and now Mr. Howard is surely here to haul him off again, Freya thought to herself.

Seeing Quillan walk into the classroom, she hurried forward to tattle. “Mr. Howard, after Skyler hurt Seamus, he showed not the slightest bit of remorse, and just now he even threatened me.”

Quillan couldn’t help rolling his eyes, because so what if Skyler had threatened her? What was Quillan supposed to do about it?

The person before him was someone even the principal didn’t dare provoke.

He couldn’t be bothered with Freya and quickly walked over to Skyler with a face full of smiles. “Um… Skyler, I spoke too harshly earlier. Please don’t take it to heart.”

“What?” Hearing Quillan’s words, everyone in the entire classroom was completely dumbstruck.

Freya especially was left gaping.

Quillan wasn’t here to haul Skyler off at all, but rather to… to apologize to him?

How was this possible?

Even Helen couldn’t help her eyes going wide.

“You’re too kind, Mr. Howard.” Skyler gave a slight nod, not bothering to hold it against Quillan.

“Helen and I need to take some time off to head out shortly. That won’t be a problem, will it?” Though Helen had no idea what Skyler wanted the leave for, she didn’t say a word out of turn.
